Privacy Policy

1. Information We Collect

RamRadar collects minimal information to provide our RAM price tracking service:

• Email address: only if you sign up for price-drop alerts or our weekly deals newsletter. We never sell your email. Both use double opt-in (you confirm via a link before anything is sent).
• Usage & analytics data: PostHog and Vercel Analytics collect page views and interactions. In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland (and wherever we cannot determine your location) they run only after you accept; elsewhere, including the US, they run by default and you can opt out. We honor the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal as an opt-out. Google Analytics uses Consent Mode: with analytics storage denied, Google may receive limited cookieless measurement pings; accepting enables full measurement. We do not run session recording or heatmaps.
• Cookies: essential cookies for site functionality; consented analytics cookies (PostHog); consented on-page affiliate attribution (Skimlinks when configured); and advertising cookies (Google AdSense / our display-ad partner, and Google Ads conversion tracking). See “Your Rights” below for how consent is handled.
• Sponsored-click fraud signals: when a paid placement is shown, Vercel BotID evaluates browser, session, and network signals before a click can be billed. RamRadar uses a short-lived signed proof, an essential HttpOnly session cookie, and a pseudonymized IP hash to prevent replay and automated budget abuse. The proof URL is excluded from analytics autocapture.
• Optional system details: nothing is scanned automatically. For installed hardware, you can download the optional RamRadar Windows scanner or export an English Windows System Information text report. The portable scanner uses Windows' hardware interface, shows a Save dialog and reads CPU, motherboard, graphics adapter names, physical memory-module capacities, firmware memory types/form factors/configured rates, module makers/part numbers/locations and reported memory-slot counts. It requires no installation, administrator access, driver or network connection; it writes only the report file you choose. Scanner JSON and Windows text reports are parsed locally in your browser. Their original contents and filenames are not uploaded or saved by this site. Only selected hardware fields are offered for review; serial numbers, computer/user names, network details and software inventories are excluded. Firmware may omit fields, and reports do not establish upgrade compatibility.
• Optional browser check: a separate browser check reads available processor threads/architecture, graphics adapter information through WebGL/WebGPU, approximate memory, display, battery, connection estimates, browser/OS and this site's browser-storage quota. These readings stay on the page unless you download its report. Only reviewed graphics and thread/memory hints can join your saved details; display, battery, architecture, renderer, connection and storage readings are not saved to your profile and never leave this page. Browser memory is rounded/capped and cannot measure installed/free RAM; browser quota is not disk space. Browser readings do not establish exact CPU/motherboard, RAM type/slots, VRAM capacity or driver health. A reviewed installed-RAM total takes precedence over the browser memory estimate.
• Using reviewed details: after you choose “Use these details,” the selected fields, including any reviewed memory-module breakdown, are saved in this browser tab's session storage, or current-page memory if storage is unavailable or the profile is too large. In the RAM wizard, importing a report immediately matches the CPU locally and sends the motherboard model name to RamRadar for catalog lookup. Unique compatible catalog matches are selected automatically and can be changed; unmatched or ambiguous parts remain manual choices. The original file is not uploaded, and catalog specifications still determine compatibility. Clearing saved details removes them from this tab; it cannot undo catalog lookups already made. Explicitly shared wizard links still contain the catalog selections you choose to share, not the imported report.
• Optional system statistics: a separate choice, initially selected when your privacy settings allow it, lets you contribute broad categories to improve hardware and compatibility coverage. It is not required for checking prices or recommendations. You can uncheck it, and we remember that choice in this browser. Sharing also respects your analytics preference and Global Privacy Control. We store separate daily counts for entry point, entry method, broad RAM tier, CPU vendor, graphics vendor and report outcome. We do not store an individual build, exact part names, motherboard IDs, raw report, contact details or shared submission identifier in these statistics. Counts represent voluntary submissions, not unique people or verified devices. Existing hosting and abuse-prevention processing is separate; the statistics endpoint uses a secret-salted network hash for short-lived rate limits without putting it in the statistics table.
• Optional community fit reports: a separate submission flow lets you preview an exact configuration and choose an initially unchecked consent option before sending it for review. A report contains CPU and motherboard models, the exact RAM brand and model or part number, DDR generation and form factor, module count and total capacity, BIOS version, operating data rate and memory profile, observed outcome, test method and duration, and short notes. Do not include contact information, serial numbers, or other personal details. Raw scanner reports, attachments, and hidden browser readings are not uploaded; no email address is collected and no email is sent. Approved reports may be published as community observations, not manufacturer certification. A random withdrawal token is prepared and shown at Preview before submission. Copy or download it and acknowledge that you saved it before sending the report; keep it to remove your report. The database stores only the secret’s hash. A separate hashed network key is used for abuse prevention.
• Operational diagnostics: when Sentry is configured, technical error and performance data may be collected to keep the service reliable. Session Replay is disabled.

2. How We Use Your Information

• To show ads and measure advertising effectiveness

3. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

• Vercel: hosting, cookieless anonymous traffic analytics, and BotID browser attestation for sponsored-click fraud prevention.
• Supabase: database for product, price, subscriber, alert, separately consented aggregate system-statistics data, and explicitly submitted community fit reports
• PostHog: privacy-conscious product analytics (page views and interactions); session recording and heatmaps are disabled
• Google Analytics: consent-aware website measurement and linked publisher reporting; limited cookieless pings may be sent while analytics storage is denied
• Sentry: technical error and performance monitoring when configured; Session Replay is disabled
• Resend: email delivery for price alerts and the weekly deals newsletter
• Google AdSense / our display-ad partner: on-page advertising
• Google Ads: advertising campaign measurement; affiliate-click conversions are sent only when a conversion action is configured
• eBay Partner Network & Rakuten Advertising (Newegg): affiliate link tracking
• Configured direct and sub-affiliate networks (including Skimlinks when enabled): attribution for eligible B&H Photo, Best Buy, and Walmart links

Each service has its own privacy policy. We encourage you to review them.

4. Affiliate Links

RamRadar contains affiliate links to retailers including eBay and Newegg. Eligible B&H Photo, Best Buy, and Walmart links may use a configured direct or sub-affiliate network. When you click a product link and make a purchase, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. This is how we keep the site free.

As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. When you follow a “Check price on Amazon” link, Amazon’s own privacy notice applies on its site. RamRadar does not send Amazon your email address or any alert details.

5. Data Retention

Subscriber and price-alert email addresses are stored while your subscription or alerts are active. When you unsubscribe we keep a minimal suppression record (your address marked unsubscribed) so we do not email you again; you can request full deletion of your data at any time (see Your Rights). Analytics data is retained per each provider's standard retention policy. Product pricing history is retained where source terms permit it; restricted listing content follows its applicable cache and deletion limits.

Optional system statistics use a 90-day UTC calendar reporting window, including today and the previous 89 days. Expired counts are excluded from insights and physically removed on the next successful scheduled housekeeping run; new contributions also prune expired counts. These are independent combined counts, so we cannot identify or remove an individual contribution after it has been combined. Turning sharing off stops future contributions; none are queued for later replay. Reviewed system details remain in your tab session and can be cleared separately.

Community fit-report content is retained until withdrawal. Withdrawal removes the report body and its public observation. Moderation audit records retain the report identifier, prior and next status, actor category (administrator or withdrawal-token holder), and time, without the report body.

6. Your Rights

You can:

• Unsubscribe at any time via the link in any marketing or alert email; this stops all emails and deactivates your price alerts. You can also fine-tune which emails you receive from the “manage preferences” link in any email.
• Request full deletion of your data (email subscription and price alerts) by emailing us; we permanently erase it.
• Use Clear system details to remove saved details from this tab so later recommendations stop using that system context. Clearing cannot undo catalog lookups already made, and saved details removed by Clear cannot be recalled by this control. Optional sharing can be declined on every use or stopped through your privacy choice; already-combined statistical counts cannot be individually removed.
• Cookies & consent: What applies on your first visit depends on where you are. In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, or if we cannot determine your location, the banner asks you to choose “Accept analytics” or “Essential only,” and analytics stay off until you accept. Elsewhere, including the US, PostHog, Vercel Analytics and Google Analytics run by default; the banner tells you so and offers “Opt out.” If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as an opt-out everywhere. We determine your region from your IP address at request time and do not store it. Opting out (or Essential only) keeps PostHog, Vercel Analytics and Skimlinks’ on-page attribution library off and leaves Google analytics storage denied; Skimlinks only ever loads after you explicitly accept. Under Google’s advanced Consent Mode, the Google tag may still send limited cookieless consent and measurement pings without analytics cookies. Google advertising storage is denied by default in the EEA, UK, EFTA, and Switzerland via Google Consent Mode v2; Google’s certified consent management platform separately requests and applies your advertising choice where required. PostHog session recording and heatmaps are disabled. We do not sell your personal information. You can change your choice at any time from “Privacy choices” in the site footer, use Google’s privacy message to manage advertising consent, and manage or disable cookies through your browser settings.

7. Children's Privacy

RamRadar is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date.
